Obama '08: Reason # 5

Hey folks ... in my last post I endorsed Barack Obama for President and gave you FIVE REASONS why he is the prescription this country needs right now. Just to summarize a bit - here were those reasons ...

1. The American people need to "take a bath"

2. The Republican party needs to "take a bath"

3. Doesn't matter if McCain wins the Presidency

4. If you want to elect a Global Warming Fear Monger who also deals in class warfare - well - why vote for the light version of that in McCain?

5. "President Obama" is the quickest route for us BACK TO THE CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES OF RONALD REAGAN.

Between now and the election in November - I'm going to expound on each of these reasons in separate posts. I'm going to start at reason number five and work "up" the list - and hopefully I'll post reason #1 a day before the polls so that you can feel comfortable voting for Obama - or at least sitting at home on election day and allowing the "Obama Wave" to wash over the country!

So in this post - we look at REASON #5 why it should be Barack in '08!

5. "President Obama" is the quickest route for us BACK TO THE CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES OF RONALD REAGAN.

To analyze this reason - let's go back in time to the wacky seventies.

Richard Nixon had resigned the Presidency in 1974 to avoid being impeached over the Watergate scandal. Richard Nixon - was NOT a Conservative - no matter what anyone wants to tell you. Nixon thought that Government was a part of the answer - not a part of the problem. Richard Nixon implemented wage and price controls. Nixon indexed Social Security for inflation, created the Environmental Protection Agency - in short - Nixon was a very adept "government grower".

And when Nixon resigned - he turned the oval office over to Gerald Ford. If anyone can figure out if Ford was a Conservative or a Centrist or a Liberal - leave a comment and let me know. Because the only thing Ford really did in my opinion was preside over the final two years of Nixon's administration. A two year period where he didn't do much - and to be truthful - the country was so sour from the Watergate affair that he really wouldn't have been able to do much if he had wanted. But regardless - Ford was not seen as a leader of the Conservative Republican movement.

Senator Barry Goldwater had been the iconic Republican Conservative figure. But Goldwater had been kept in a safe "box" by his opponents who successfully painted him as a "reactionary". Goldwater also didn't do himself any favors because he wasn't the most adept politician in my opinion. He didn't see the importance of forging political alliances with entities such as the "religious right" - indeed - he often clashed with them.

But a new "icon" for Conservatism arose in 1976 - and it was ...

Ronald Reagan.

Reagan challenged Ford for the Republican Presidential nomination in 1976 and Reagan - like Goldwater - was painted as a "Reactionary". You young people today really haven't heard that term much these days - but that was the descriptive term assigned to Ronald Reagan by the Liberals in the Republican party and in the Drive-By Media at the time. To be branded "Reactionary" - meant that you were a "warmonger". "Reactionary" meant you were against equal rights. It meant you wanted to turn back the clock to the Wild West days and have public hangings.

And the term stuck to Reagan in 1976 a little - he narrowly lost the Republican nomination to Ford by about 100 delegates.

What was clear in the Republican campaign in 1976 was that a new wind was coming - and even though he lost the nomination that year - that wind would be led by Ronald Reagan.

Of course - Gerald Ford lost the Presidential race to Democrat Jimmy Carter - who went on to become the WORST President of the 20th Century.

IT WAS THE INEPTITUDE OF JIMMY CARTER THAT MADE A REAGAN PRESIDENCY POSSIBLE.

I'm not going into the specifics of Jimmy Carter's failures - they are legend and I've blogged on them extensively. Jimmy Carter didn't "inspire" Americans. He didn't "lift" them up. Quite the contrary - Carter was known to hold a mirror to Americans and point out their flaws - much like Barack Obama does today. Every time Carter's approval rating dipped again - he would go on television and tell the people that things would get better if they "tightened" their belts. In order to save America - Americans had to sacrifice their dreams and face reality - that was the Carter philosophy.

It made American's sick of Jimmy Carter and the Iranian Hostage Crisis (caused by Carter and fumbled by Carter) - made them intent on getting rid of him.

The "Reactionary Warmonger", Ronald Reagan - rode a wave of popular support to a landslide victory over Carter in 1980.

LANDSLIDE ... 489 electoral votes - to Carter's 49.

Reagan inspired Americans - didn't ask them to sacrifice their hopes and dreams - he encouraged them. Reagan ended the Cold War - without firing a shot at the Soviets. The rest is history.

We need a NEW REAGAN in this country - but he's not John McCain. John McCain is more akin to Gerald Ford than he is to Reagan.

What would happen if John McCain were elected President with a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress?

What you would have in this case another Republican "Whipping Boy" in the White House.
Folks ... liberals have no ideas - they are morally and intellectually bankrupt. The only reason they seem to be enjoying some minor success in elections these days is because people are fed up with Conservatives not sticking to their core values. Conservatism has the ideas ... there's just no leadership.
Democrats have been very successful (along with their willing co-conspirators in the drive-by media) in BLAMING Republicans for anything and everything. Actually - this country is doing great right now (and I'll speak more about this when I talk about REASON #1 wHY OBAMA SHOULD BE ELECTED - but you'll have to wait for that one!).

The bottom line here is this - Democrats are on fire because they've managed to burn the Republicans.

If you elect John McCain - Hillary will be back in 2012! Because John McCain will be expertly played as the "whipping boy" by the Democrats.

PUT OBAMA IN OFFICE! Give the Democrats NO WHIPPING BOY - FORCE THEM TO PERFORM - FORCE THEM TO SHOW US THEIR INTELLECTUAL CARDS AND THEIR PLAN FOR "FIXING THINGS".

And watch the hillarity of that!!

Folks - it will be painful. It will be hard - but every generation needs to sacrifice for the cause of freedom! Put Obama in - the Democrats, unencombered by any viable Republican opposition will melt themselves into oblivion. Obama WILL NOT be reelected in 2012 and Hillary won't have a chance either - because like Jimmy Carter in 1980 - nothing carrying a Democrat "brand" will have a chance.

We will then have our opportunity to put Conservatives back in power that will do something.

OBAMA - HIS FAILURE WILL BE THE QUICKEST ROUTE FOR CONSERVATIVES TO PUT THIS COUNTRY BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK!
